Medium dark is for people who want the roast to show up without taking over. You get the heavier body and the chocolate-and-caramel depth of a darker roast, but the origin character is still in the cup. Patches Blend lives here — an Indonesian blend with dark chocolate, caramel, and a touch of nutmeg.

This roast level is forgiving. It's strong enough to stand up to milk, and it makes a good espresso without turning bitter. If dark roast has ever tasted burnt to you, start here instead.
