The Cup That Starts the Conversation
Share
When was the last time you sat across from someone and actually talked?
Not texted. Not scrolled next to each other on the couch. Talked. Eye contact. No agenda. Just two people being honest.
I think about this a lot. Operation Coffee was built on three words: Coffee, Conversation, Connection. And I keep coming back to the middle one. Conversation. Because it's the one we skip the most.
We live fast. We answer quick. We say "I'm good" when we're not. And we move on before anyone can ask a follow-up question. I've done it. You've done it. We all have.
But here's what I've learned. The best conversations I've ever had started with a cup of coffee and zero plans. Just showing up. Being present. Letting the silence sit for a second before filling it with something real.
Faith plays a huge role in that for me. God didn't design us to rush through relationships. He designed us for fellowship. For sitting with each other in the mess. Proverbs 27:17 says "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." That sharpening doesn't happen in a group chat. It happens face to face. Over time. Over coffee.
I started roasting coffee because I love the craft. But I kept going because of what happens around it. A veteran opens up to his buddy for the first time in years. A caregiver finally admits she's exhausted. A dad tells his kid something he's been holding onto. Those moments don't happen on accident. They happen when someone is intentional enough to slow down and create the space.
That's what I'm asking you to do this week. Pick one person. Pour two cups. Ask a question you actually want the answer to. And then just listen.
You don't need a script. You don't need to fix anything. Just be there. God does the rest.
If you need a good cup to get it started, Battle Buddy Blend was made for exactly this. Pour over. Slow. Intentional. Just like the conversation.
